Hotel Restaurant Chavant may be a quaint hotel, but its long-running establishment proudly boasts over 170 years of French hospitality. Started in 1852 as an inn, it has since grown into a small but sophisticated hotel, with gorgeous interiors and a beautiful estate. Daniele Chavant and her husband Jean-Pierre take a hands-on approach to managing the hotel, ensuring every aspect is to the liking and comfort of their patrons.
Design and Architecture
Featuring only a handful of rooms, the hotel can boast individually themed and decorated suites, putting emphasis on beauty, comfort, and functionality. Antique and contemporary furniture stand together, creating a warm and homey atmosphere as if you're visiting beloved family. Instead of fully remodeling the inn, the owners have integrated the 19th-century fixtures and aesthetics. There's even a quaint little cabin and a garden where guests can hang out and relax, sipping tea or cocktails as they enjoy the crisp mountain climate.

With the legacy of the Chavant family and the spirit and creativity of its new culinarians, the hotel's on-site restaurant promises flavors that are bold and inspired, as well as familiar and traditional. The kitchen is led by Chef Fabien Capogna, whose young and imaginative expertise helped create the hotel's vivid and sumptuous French gourmet meals. They used a wide variety of local produce and meats, seasonal pickings, and delectable sauces, crafted into dishes that embody Grenoble's gastronomic diversity.
The restaurant was eventually recognized by institutions like Gault Millau and the Michelin Guide, a testament to its exceptional service and top-notch cuisine.
And like any well-run restaurant, they also have a finely stocked wine cellar, with selections of treasured vintages carefully curated by sommelier Jean-Charles Pouzeratte.
Looking for a nice quiet place for your destination wedding? The city of Grenoble has historic cathedrals where you can hold your wedding ceremony if you prefer a traditional church wedding. For the reception and pictorials, Hotel Restaurant Chavant can be privatized for the celebratory banquet. Their beautiful gardens make for the perfect setting for an outdoor party where both the newlyweds and their guests can bask in the afterglow of a blessed matrimony while surrounded by the picturesque mountains.
Cultural and Outdoor Experiences
Since Chavant is nestled up in the mountains of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, having outdoor adventures on your holiday itinerary should be an easy decision. There are numerous trails where hiking, biking, and even horse-riding can be done. There is also plenty of native wildlife to watch out for and observe. Being high up in the mountains, the region also becomes a snow-covered wonderland during the winter, with plenty of opportunities for skiing.
Grenoble's long and rich existence dates all the way back to the Gallic tribes, which means there are numerous museums showcasing different periods of the city's history and culture. The Museum of the Old Bishopric of Grenoble focuses on the city's early Christian communities and livelihood. It's also located within a former bishop's palace with well-preserved old architecture. Another historic site worth visiting is the Bastille of Grenoble, a stalwart fortress that watched over the city while defending against possible enemies that might pass through the mountains.
