History

Although Airelles Gordes, La Bastide has only existed as a hotel since 2015, it consists of buildings that have been part of the town of Gordes for over 500 years. But instead of creating a fully medieval hotel, Airelles opted to build an establishment that brings out some of the best years of Provence, centering on a theme set in 18th-century France. Along with its period furniture and decor, the hotel also plays to the town's strength as a haven for creatives, especially artists.

Design and Architecture

The designers and architects of Airelles Gordes, La Bastide, including renowned interior artist Christophe Tollemer, took careful notes of the many regal and impressive properties throughout France when they were planning the hotel. While the buildings are from the 16th century, they set about creating a hotel with the atmosphere of an 18th-century palatial country manor. It suffices to say they succeeded in doing so and even exceeded the expectations of many.
