Hôtel Plaza Athénée - Dorchester Collection

Hôtel Plaza Athénée started welcoming guests on April 20, 1913. Most of its earliest guests were composers and theatergoers who visited Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, which is located just a two-minute walk away. In 1936, the Art-Deco-style Le Relais Plaza restaurant opened at the hotel, which attracted more guests, including designers, actors, and other celebrities.

The hotel's history is intertwined with the history of Avenue Montaigne. For instance, when Christian Dior opened his first boutique on the avenue in 1946, he would often host shoots and fashion shows at the hotel. His first collection was in fact inspired by the hotel. Hôtel Plaza Athénée acknowledged Dior's contribution to its fame by naming its spa after him.

After years of offering excellent hospitality, gourmet food, and elegant lodging, the hotel was given the distinction of Palace in 2011.

The hotel was designed by Charles Lefebvre with intricate carvings, Juliet balconies, and vintage furniture. Constant Lefranc designed the restaurant, Le Relais Plaza, by drawing inspiration from the first-class dining hall of the ocean liner, SS Normandie. It boasts an Art Deco design.

Included with the hotel's recent transformations are the addition of accessible guest rooms. These are equipped with wheelchair-friendly bathrooms that have helpful features, including lowered sinks and raised toilets with grab rails.

The newest addition to the hotel, Jean Imbert au Plaza Athénée opened in 2022. Chef Jean Imbert runs this Michelin-starred restaurant serving traditional French cuisine , including 250-year-old recipes. You can even relish a specially curated five-course meal called Le Menu de Jean.

Le Relais Plaza
