A family-run establishment, Hôtel Le Maréchal stands proudly as a historic gem in the picturesque neighborhood of Little Venice. It was built in the 16th century and still boasts architecture from that era. Its rooms are individually decorated to make each guest feel special. While the decor is mostly traditional, the rooms are equipped with all the necessary modern amenities.
The hotel sits on the canal originating from the Lauch River, so expect soothing water views during your stay. The on-site restaurant lets guests explore the rich flavors of the region. The hotel also offers easy access to nearby attractions like Colmar Christmas Market at Place des Dominicains.
Hôtel Le Maréchal is much more than just a hotel. It's a historical landmark built in 1565 on top of ancient fortifications. French military icon Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne patronized the property in the later 1600s when it used to be called Inn of the Black Mountains.
In the 1970s, Mister Gilbert Bomo and his companion, Ingeborg, acquired the property and transformed it into a delightful shelter for travelers. The hotel gained recognition under them, thanks to the impeccable service and delectable food they offered. The Bomo family has been running the hotel for around 50 years, carefully preserving its original features and striking Alsatian architecture while adding modern amenities to it.
Design and Architecture
The half-timbered facade of the hotel boasts traditional Alsatian architecture that blends seamlessly with its picturesque setting. Inside, the guest rooms feature antique 16th-century furniture handpicked by the Bomo family. The rooms are individually decorated, but each comes with plush upholstery and taffeta velvet fabrics. The restaurant showcases Baroque-style decor, with paintings in gilded frames, exposed wooden beams, and golden sconces.
