History

Grand Hôtel de Solesmes dates back to the 18th century. It was once a humble coaching inn sheltering Benedictine monks during the late 19th century. Even then, the property offered everything that a traveler seeking shelter would need during those times. This included provisions for food like a butcher's and bakery. The inn was acquired by Marie-Louise and Raymond Jaquet in 1960. The couple took it upon themselves to improve the hospitality aspects of the property. However, the more notable improvements were introduced by their son, Bertrand, in 1969. He, with his wife Michèle, introduced innovation in the cuisine and other aspects that helped the hotel gain more popularity. The year 1975 saw further development of the property. A new extension was added to it, thoughtfully curated by architect Guy Bisson.

The hotel is now managed by Marie Jaquet, Bertrand and Michèle's eldest daughter. She carefully upholds the traditional character and elegance of her family's inn, while ensuring it meets all contemporary benchmarks. Its strategic location close to Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Solesmes still benefits it by drawing tourists who wish to experience the region's history and culture.
