Awarded a Michelin star for its on-site restaurant (La Palmeraie)
Château de Valmer is the perfect place to relax and soak in the beauty of the Provençal countryside. It was built in 1949 and has been evolving with the changing times over the years under the same family. The property is tucked inside a wooded park and dotted with trees and gardens, including an organic vegetable garden. The Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant on site guarantees a wonderful gastronomic experience, while the spa with a Turkish bath, hot tub, and solarium ensures complete rejuvenation. The hotel even has a shop selling souvenirs from the region as well as organic wine. To top it off, the property offers access to a private beach connected to its sister establishment.
Château de Valmer started its hospitality journey as a guesthouse in 1949. The previous generation of the current owners ran the hotel. Although tourism wasn't so popular during those times, La Croix Valmer did get a lot of visitors because of its breathtaking natural beauty. The old-fashioned property was thoroughly renovated to meet modern needs and the old country house was expanded to create a more resort-like space. The hotel's sister property, La Pinède Plage, was built as an annex but later separated and started operating as an independent hotel in the 1970s.
Château de Valmer became a 4-star establishment in 2004, while La Pinède Plage earned its fourth star in 2010. Throughout the years, the two properties have grown side by side, offering unmatched hospitality to guests and sometimes even sharing each others' amenities. So, booking a room at Château de Valmer automatically means being able to explore La Pinède Plage and its private beach.
Design and Architecture
The hotel still flaunts its bourgeois-style architecture characteristic of 19th-century country houses. The accommodations boast vintage furniture, exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, clawfoot tubs in the bathroom, and pretty floral drapes, all of which will make you feel at home. Aside from regular rooms, you'll find cozy treehouses made of wood offering a unique stay experience.
The meals and snacks offered at Château de Valmer are all made using fresh ingredients from the organic vegetable garden on site. The garden boasts vegetables such as tomatoes, artichokes, pumpkins, and aubergines. Aromatic herbs are also available, including basil, rosemary, and chives.
