Le Mont, 03160 Ygrande, France
Château d'Ygrande was first built in 1835 as the hunting lodge of Count Eugène de la Roche. During the 20th century, it passed hands several times, and by 1998 was acquired by Monsieur and Madame Tissier-Malergue. The couple Tissier-Malergue renovated the estate and opened it as a hotel in 1999.
Most parts of the estate are credited to the La Roche family, such as the gardens and outer buildings. There also used to be a castle fortification in the area, but has since gone to ruin.
Design and Architecture
Although Château d'Ygrande was originally founded in 1835 , much of its current look is credited to its 1910 owner Lemaire de Marne. Indeed the aesthetics have a modern vibe to them, feeling closer to vintage than antique. The accommodations and amenities have a similar atmosphere, showcasing a blend of modern comforts with classical decorative choices such as chandeliers and paintings.
With flavorful delicacies and masterfully made gourmet French cuisine, guests dining at the on-site restaurant are in for a magnificent treat. The philosophy that has guided L & Luy au Château d'Ygrande for the past 20 years has been to respect the seasons. By collaborating with local organic producers and utilizing the estate's very own gardens, Chef Cédric Denaux delivers sumptuous feasts that are hard to forget.
