Auberge De La Madone

Auberge de La Madone began its story in 1946 as a restaurant and grocery store serving the locals of Peillon. Christian Millo and his sister inherited the restaurant in 1982, though management would fall into Christian's hands as the years went on. Before managing their family business, Christian practiced his culinary skills at La Réserve de Beaulieu, a prestigious hotel & restaurant in the commune of Beaulieu-sur-Mer. His sons, Mathieu and Thomas, would also continue the family legacy in 1998. Thomas even took up the chef's hat, joining Christian in the kitchens of Auberge De La Madone.

The family's industriousness and dedication were rewarded with a Michelin Star in 2004, taking the family's and hotel's prestige to greater heights. In 2016, Thomas was given the lead role in the kitchen, maintaining the quality and excellence that his father and grandfather established.

Design and Architecture

Although established in the middle of the 20th century, Auberge De La Madone features a wholly Medieval look, belonging more to a centuries-old seminary than a hotel. But it is this exact architecture—sturdy old stonework covered in vines—that charms travelers into booking a stay. The seminary comparison is appropriate, as the rooms exude idyllic and warmly comforting vibes. The simplicity and austerity encourage guests to pay attention to what the hotel and the town of Peillon can offer. That's not to say that guests will have to forgo modern comforts, as Auberge De La Madone comes equipped with modern bathrooms and amenities such as WiFi.

L’Authentique

Inspired by his family's legacy, Thomas Millo set about transforming the signature restaurant of Auberge De La Madone into an elevated dining establishment for the modern generation. The menu makes use of the regions's freshest produce and seasonal picks, along with the Mediterranean's fresh catches. Pair your plate of regional favorites of lamb carré and seared sea bream with wines sourced from Provençal's best vineyards. 

La Table d’Augustine

Aside from the restaurant, Auberge De La Madone also offers bistro dining at La Table d’Augustine. Named after Thomas and Mathieu's grandmother, the restaurant specializes in colorful and flavorful legacy recipes that bring the best out of the region's ingredients.

Make your special day a secretive fairytale wedding set in the hills of Southern France. Couples can book Auberge de La Madone as the setting of their wedding celebration by privatizing parts of or the whole hotel. Chef Thomas will be handling the party, from the aperitifs to the delectable courses and drinks. Couples who would love to have a traditional ceremony can also ask for assistance from the hotel for reservations at the town's chapel.

Cultural and Outdoor Experiences

Just because Auberge De La Madone and the Peillon have a secluded location doesn't mean you'll be bored. There are plenty of adventures to find during your stay, especially outdoor ones. The hills are perfect for both hiking and cycling excursions. There are also campgrounds in the region, such as Camping de La Laune, for those who would like to rough it out for a few days. For those who'd prefer staying in town, the historic streets are there for you to explore. You can even attend a mass in the local church, Église Saint-Sauveur, and marvel at its ancient frescoes.

If you'd love to step out of town, you can drive to the city of Nice to visit its museums and historic spots. Musée d'Archéologie de Nice is a lovely museum featuring Roman archaeological treasures. Monaco is also accessible within an hour's drive, where you can see the Prince's Palace of Monaco, where their royalty resides.
