Honored with the Best Heritage Hotel Award at the 9th Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRANI) Conclave
Regarded as one of British India's finest settlements, Mussoorie is one of the country's beloved Queens of Hill Stations, alongside Shimla and Ooty. The town itself was established around 1825 by Captain Frederick Young, who developed the region as a resort for British officials and officers. Two centuries later, Mussoorie is still a top-draw destination for travelers, with many historic colonial properties open as heritage stays. WelcomHeritage Kasmanda Palace is one such establishment, used as a summer residence of the Kasmanda royal family. Here, guests can bask in the cool weather of Uttarakhand and admire the magnificent scenery of the Himalayas. Guests will also be treated to fine regional cuisine, and exciting opportunities for outdoor adventures on the slopes.

Before it became a summer residence of the Kasmanda royals, WelcomHeritage Kasmanda Palace was built in 1836 by Captain Rennie Tailour as part of Mussoorie's Christ Church estate. It was later used as a sanatorium for British soldiers recuperating from illnesses and injuries. After some time, it converted into a local school for locals living in Mussoorie.
Come 1915, it was purchased by the Kasmanda royal family. They were one of the more influential taluqdars (feudal lords) of Awadh, with their old domains now part of modern-day Lucknow. Rajkumar Dinraj Pratap Singhji and Kunwarani Saheba Yadu Nandini Singh opened the property as a boutique hotel in 1992. While management of the hotel has since been passed to the WelcomHeritage Group, the property is still visited regularly by Raja Dinraj Pratap Singh Ji and his family , especially during the holidays.
While the estate WelcomHeritage Kasmanda Palace was first established in 1836, it has changed ownership several times throughout the two centuries since. The three-acre (1.21-hectare) estate boasts lush, landscaped lawns and gardens, along with scenic terraces overlooking the Himalayan valleys.
The main heritage stays are the Palace Wing and the Heritage Wing. Both feature classic rooms with authentic architecture and period-style decor. The Heritage Wing, in particular, has more luxurious accommodations, with antique furnishings and fixtures. The Garden Wing and Cottage Wing, however, are for those who prefer accommodations with a contemporary appeal.
