The Taj Mahal Palace was envisioned by Jamsetji Tata, founder of the Tata Group. He wanted to build something iconic in Mumbai that would cater to people of all races, Indian or European. In December 1903, The Taj Mahal Palace welcomed its first guests.

Around 70 years later, Rustam Patell and Melton Bekker brought The Taj Mahal Tower to life. The tower proudly showcases South Indian influences, as well as R ajasthani-style details. In 2010 , the Rockwell Group stepped in to renovate both the palace and tower wings and redesign some of the on-site restaurants, making the properties even more alluring.

Design and Architecture

Architects Rustam Patell and Melton Bekker built The Taj Mahal Tower, deriving from multiple architectural influences. You can see architectural elements of South India in its pillars, reminiscent of the temples of Tanjore. and Rajasthani influences in the arches and jharokhas. Its straight, tall structure is also akin to modern-day skyscrapers. The hotel also offers glimpses of Moorish and Renaissance styles of architecture.
