Rising from the desert sands, Rohet Garh carries a legacy that began in 1622 when Thakur Dalpat Singh I was granted the jagir of Rohet. The mansion remained the family home for the next four centuries, during which the family served Rajasthan in the military, politics, and social work. In the late 1990s, Thakur Manvendra Singh opened Rohet Garh to guests, carefully restoring courtyards, frescoes, and arches with modern refinements. Over the years, numerous artists and notable guests have stayed at Rohet Garh, adding their stories to its history. The property has been recognized with awards, including the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award and other honors. Today, Rohet Garh comes alive with grand halls, vibrant Rajasthani cuisine, and unforgettable cultural experiences.
The history of Rohet Garh goes back to 1622, when the jagir of Rohet was given to Thakur Dalpat Singh I. He was a warrior noted for his valour, reputedly having 84 battle wounds. As a recognition of his service, the Maharajah of Jodhpur gave him 84 villages, and Rohet became the family home. For the next four centuries, Rohet Garh stayed the family home, whose members served in the military, politics, sport, and social work. In 1905, Thakur Dalpat Singh II became the head of the family. He was a nobleman and famous polo player with the Jodhpur Polo Team in the 1920s, and later was the commander of the Jodhpur Lancers and adviser to the Maharajah.
By 1990, the family decided it was time to give the home a new life. Thakur Manvendra Singh opened Rohet Garh’s gates to guests, and thus the ancestral dwelling was resurrected in the form of a classified Heritage Hotel. The original buildings were not replaced but carefully restored, and the old courtyards, terraces, and gardens reclaimed their dignity. Through this careful restoration, Rohet Garh has been recognized for its excellence and has won awards like the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2017 and the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards in 2009, 2012, 2016, and 2017.
Rohet Garh represents an attractive combination of heritage, artisanship, and Rajasthani character. The property is set beside a lake and backed by rural landscapes, with spacious lawns and vibrant flowerbeds where peacocks wander gracefully.
The 32 rooms and six suites are all spacious, featuring carved ceilings, traditional lamps, carpets, oil paintings, and frescoes that give each room its own theme and character. The furniture is made by local craftsmen, reflecting traditional Rajasthani artisanship. Krishna-inspired designs fill the rooms, from floral pillows on tie-dye headboards to elephant figurines and murals of cows and lotuses highlighted in gold leaf. Family photographs line the walls in the lounge, connecting guests to the estate’s history.
The pool courtyard features stone pavilions at each corner. For accessibility, all rooms are located on the ground floor and are wheelchair accessible, ensuring comfort for all guests.
