Neemrana’s Glasshouse on the Ganges sits in a serene orchard once owned by the Maharaja of Tehri Garhwal. Built 22 years ago as the Himalayan Hideaway by Mira Kulkarni, founder of Forest Essentials, it was acquired and renovated by Neemrana Hotels, reopening in 2020 as a riverside retreat. The property has its own stretch of the Ganges, perfect for relaxation, meditation, or watching the evening Ganga Aarti. Guests can enjoy riverside dining with Himalayan flavors, yoga, spa treatments, hands-on cooking classes connecting them with local traditions, and cozy riverside bonfires for special occasions. The area is alive with native birds and wildlife. Awarded Staycation Destination of the Year 2025 by Delhiites Food & Nightlife Awards, it’s ideal for immersive escapes.
Neemrana's Glasshouse on the Ganges sits in a peaceful lychee and mango orchard that once belonged to the Maharaja of Tehri Garhwal. The area is full of tropical plants, rare birds, and butterflies, and even has its own quiet stretch of riverbank along the Ganges. The property was earlier known as the Himalayan Hideaway, a private home owned by Mira Kulkarni, the founder of Forest Essentials. That house was about 22 years old before being acquired by Neemrana Hotels. They renovated and reopened it in 2020 as Neemrana’s Glasshouse on the Ganges, preserving the calm, natural setting while creating a modern riverside retreat. The property was recognised as the Staycation Destination of the Year 2025 by the Delhiites Food & Nightlife Awards.
Each room at Neemrana’s Glasshouse on the Ganges is named after exotic birds found in the Himalayas. The rooms are built in natural stone and tucked between trees, with cobbled paths connecting them. There’s even a small trail that goes all the way down to the Ganges. The whole place is spread over a sloping hillside, so you get open views of the valley, the treetops, and the river below. The buildings are all white and blend really well with the greenery around. The stone pathways at the entrance were brought from Chittorgarh, and Himalayan slate surrounds the property.
Inside, the design feels like a calm forest retreat. The Neemrana team has kept it airy and natural, with mesh doors and big windows to let in the mountain air and the sound of the river. There are 20 rooms and suites spread across five blocks, some near the lawns and others right by the river with private terraces. The interiors are simple, with pastel colours, light furniture, and paintings of yogis and hermits. Each room follows one of three themes: Forest Herb with greens and greys, Mountain Vibe with pinks, and River with blue floral touches. Everything together makes the place feel peaceful, fresh, and close to nature.

At Neemrana’s Glasshouse on the Ganges, they use produce that’s locally grown and seasonal, with no long-term freezing or heavy processing. The restaurant offers a mix of Trans-Himalayan dishes with rustic hunter-style curries and open-air pit roasts. You’ll find flavours from Tehri Garhwal, Nepal, and Himachal, along with a few familiar Continental options for those who prefer lighter fare. Meals can also be customized. If you want to try something special, you just have to mention it during the previous meal, and the chefs will do their best to make it happen.
The spread changes often, but there’s something for everyone, from North Indian and South Indian favourites to Thai, Italian, and Rajasthani food. Breakfasts often feature local touches like ragi idlis, while lunch and dinner bring heartier dishes. Two must-tries here are the Laal Maans, made lovingly by Neemrana’s long-time chef Rajendra Prasad, and the Pesto Mushroom Stir Fry paired with an Orange, Basil, and Mint Booster Drink. Outdoor tables by the river make the experience even better.
There’s plenty to do right at the property before you even think about heading out. Start your morning with yoga at the open pavilion by the river. Certified trainers guide you through each move. After yoga, head over to the spa. They use natural oils and local ingredients in their treatments, and you can pick from body massages, facials, or even short head, back, or foot therapies. It’s smart to book early, since the spa stays pretty full most days. If you enjoy slow, simple experiences, you can also sign up for cooking classes (available at an extra charge). The cooking sessions are fun and hands-on, and you’ll learn regional recipes straight from the chefs.
The Glasshouse also arranges white-water rafting at the Himalayan River Runners Base Camp, one of the best parts of the Ganges. You can enjoy a light lunch, ride the rapids, and come back to hot drinks waiting for you. If you prefer something gentler, go on a nature walk or soft hike. One scenic route runs from the Glasshouse to Sirasu, crossing hanging bridges and winding through forests, and if you’re lucky, you might spot deer, peacocks, or jungle fowl early in the morning. And for those drawn to the spiritual side of Rishikesh, visit Bharat Temple or Neelkanth Temple, or simply cross over to watch the Ganga Aarti as diyas float down the river at sunset.
Neemrana’s Glasshouse on the Ganges is great for birthdays, anniversaries, small corporate events, or any special occasion. You can talk to them to plan your event and add your own personal touches.
