Honored as the Best Wedding Hotel in India at the 2017 Great Indian Wedding Awards by the International Convention of the Wedding Fraternity
Mundota Fort and Palace, set in the Aravalli Hills near Jaipur, goes back to the 14th century when the Naruka Rajputs built its fort. A century later, after battles, it passed to the Nathawat Rajputs, who still remain its custodians. Once a seat of power, it later fell into decline until the 20th generation of the family restored it over seven years and opened it in 2020 as a heritage stay. With 125 rooms, it offers fort suites with plunge pools and dining in unusual spots like stepwells and turrets. Mundota also keeps alive the royal sport through India’s most awarded polo team, the Achievers, giving guests a rare mix of history, contemporary luxury, and harmony.

Mundota Fort and Palace traces their origins to the early 14th century, when the hilltop fort was built by the Naruka Rajputs. In the 15th century, after a fierce battle, it passed to the Nathawat Rajputs, who remain custodians to this day. In 1550, Thakur Jaswant Singh Ji, great-grandson of Raja Prithviraj Singh of Amer, was granted the estate, which then spread across several villages. He built the palace at the foothills, later expanded by his descendants, and Mundota became a prestigious double Tazimi Jagir of the Jaipur dynasty.
The Thakurs of Mundota earned fame for their bravery, fighting, and defeating Afghan rulers whose battle flags were presented to the Maharaja of Amer. In return, the Nathawats received the white Kachchawa flag with the Kachnar insignia, still preserved at Mundota. The fort, with its turrets and musket holes, served as Jaipur’s first line of defense for centuries.
Abandoned in later years, the fort was revived after a seven-year deep restoration completed in 2020. The restoration kept the original structure and style intact, using stone instead of marble on floors and walls. Today, the estate blends heritage and modern luxury, with large outdoor spaces, exclusive fort suites, farm-to-table dining, and private polo grounds, continuing a 450-year legacy of Rajputana hospitality.
