History

The Carlton Hotel was built in 1958 behind The Taj Mahal Palace. Although it's much less lavish than the latter, it has a distinct charm, like most heritage hotels. It's been serving guests from all over the world for over 60 years.

Since its inception, the hotel has welcomed backpackers and budget travelers. Although it was renovated in 2016, it proudly retains its 20th-century colonial-style architecture and decor. Even the area around the hotel has an old-world charm, with historical attractions like the Gateway of India located close by.
