Hotel Pushkar Palace has a long history dating back 400 years. It was built by the Maharaja of Jaisalmer by Pushkar Lake. The lake was the site for many other such palaces built by erstwhile rulers as private residences or homes to rest in during their hunting expeditions. The palace, initially called Kishangarh Kunj, was presented by the king to the Maharaja of Kishangarh.
Over the years, the property gained heritage status from the Government of India's Department of Tourism and was transformed into a heritage hotel. Now, it's run by Kr. Jagat Singh Rathore of Khanpur, who acquired the palace in 1979. He has since ensured it retains furniture, artifacts, and other details from its glorious past aside from all the modern enhancements. Their dedication to preserving Pushkarβs heritage has led them to operate a similar property in the area, known as Jagat Palace.
Design and Architecture
Hotel Pushkar Palace is like the quintessential Rajasthani Haveli boasting Rajputana architectural style. You will find ornate domes and jharokhas, hand-painted portraits of the royal family , and period furniture. The hotel also features colorful frescoes and showcases gorgeous arches with latticework on its balconies. The pavilions, terraces, and courtyards on the property showcase traditional Rajasthani architecture as well.
