Half Moon Street, Mayfair, London, United Kingdom, W1J 7BH
Flemings Hotel began its journey in 1851 when Robert Fleming opened a small private hotel at No. 10 Half Moon Street, right as London welcomed the Great Exhibition. What started as a modest townhouse soon grew into a refined establishment catering to aristocrats and London’s gentry. Over the years, the hotel expanded into adjoining properties, gradually shaping the elegant ensemble of buildings that now spans Nos. 7 to 12 Half Moon Street and six townhouses on Clarges Street.
From the start, Flemings combined comfort, discretion, and attentive service, establishing a reputation that would attract guests from across the globe. Its position on Half Moon Street, a historically vibrant street famed for bachelor apartments and literary residents, added a unique cultural layer to the hotel’s story. Writers, poets, and even characters of fiction have passed through its doors or wandered nearby, lending the hotel a timeless connection to London’s literary and social life.
Through each stage of its evolution, Flemings has adapted to the changing demands of Mayfair while remaining committed to understated luxury, personal service, and a sense of history woven into every corner.
Flemings Mayfair stands as a beautiful example of Georgian architecture, a style that first appeared in the early 1700s during the reign of King George I. Georgian design is all about balance, proportion, and subtle elegance, and you can see it in the tall windows, neat brick façades, and classic lines of the thirteen townhouses that make up the hotel. It’s the kind of style that feels timeless, quietly sophisticated without ever being over the top.
Inside, the interiors take a slightly different turn, blending contemporary comfort with a nod to 1930s glamour. Bronze accents, soft grey tones, and polished finishes bring warmth and style to the 129 guestrooms and luxury suites. For longer stays or more space, the hotel also offers ten fully serviced apartments with one, two, or three bedrooms, each thoughtfully designed to feel welcoming and stylish. Public spaces, from the lobby to the lounges, continue the mix of classic and modern. Step-free entrances and lifts mean everyone can move around easily, making the hotel accessible for all.
Ormer Mayfai blends the flavors of Executive Chef Sofian Msetfi’s Moroccan and Irish roots. The 7-course tasting menu highlights the finest seasonal ingredients, sourced from dedicated suppliers and the Essex kitchen garden. Guests can enjoy dishes such as cured Cornish mackerel with sesame and spiced nage, Scottish langoustine, roast Landes guinea fowl with sauce Albufera, and a range of vegetarian options. Vegan dishes are available with 48 hours’ notice.
Recognized with four AA Rosettes and a Michelin star in 2024, Ormer Mayfair is consistently praised among London’s top fine dining spots. The elegant setting, artful presentation, and carefully selected wine pairings make each meal a memorable experience.
