The Brock Niagara Falls Fallsview was first built as the General Brock Hotel, designed and completed in 1927. The hotel is named after Major General Sir Isaac Brock, a celebrated British‑Canadian leader from the War of 1812. Although completed, it didn't officially open until July 1, 1929, and featured 260 guestrooms and fireproof construction. It also boasted a rooftop garden and a grand ballroom overlooking the Niagara River and waterfalls. The hotel became Niagara’s first luxury high‑rise destination and hosted numerous celebrity personalities, including Hollywood stars and royalty. The Brock also gained a place in pop culture when Room 801 became Marilyn Monroe's home for two weeks, during the filming of Niagara. Later in 2000, the hotel also became a major filming location for The Whole Nine Yards, which starred Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry.

The top level housed the Rainbow Room, a glass‑enclosed banquet venue carefully designed to provide sweeping views of the Falls and Niagara Gorge.
