Puddicombe House

The story of Puddicombe House began in 1868, when prominent New Hamburg businessman Samuel Merner built the stately Italianate residence as his family home. Already a successful entrepreneur, Merner would later serve as a Member of Parliament before being appointed to the Senate of Canada. Twenty years later, in 1888, the property was purchased by Robert Puddicombe, whose family lived there for nearly 80 years and ultimately gave the house its present-day name. Following the family's ownership, the mansion was converted into rental apartments before falling into disrepair.

The home was brought back to life in 2004 when the Cressman family acquired the property and embarked on an extensive restoration to bring back its historic character.
