Before this establishment became known as Hôtel Archétype Etoile, the property was the Centre Ville Étoile. It was a glorious Art Deco edifice from 1930 that stood out among the apartments of Avenue Charles-de-Gaulle. Its design was heavily influenced by the Années folles, or ' crazy years', of the 1920s, though the next two decades turned out to be tribulations for the country and its people. By the latter half of the 20th century, it could be argued that the hotel became a small icon for a bygone era filled with decadent merrymaking.
In 2009, Centre Ville Étoile was integrated by Figestel, a family-run hotelier business led by Sébastien François. They would renovate and relaunch the property in 2019 as the Hôtel Archétype Etoile. The company's mission is to assist in the operation and management of various independently run hotels under its brand. Included in their portfolio are other heritage hotels in Paris such as Le Clos Medicis and Fontaines du Luxembourg.
Design and Architecture
Art Deco began in Paris during the early 1900s, becoming the vogue artistic and architectural style in the West after it became a central motif for the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. Its hallmarks involve geometrical lines and patterns with balanced symmetry, and are applied in far less ostentatious manners than Art Nouveau.
In the case of Hôtel Archétype Etoile, the property underwent major renovations in 2019, emerging later with new twist to its Art Deco style. Labeled 'Tropical Art Deco', they've applied biophilic and environmentalist touches to their rooms and shared spaces, inspired by the vivid colors and lively flora of warmer regions. When it comes to furniture and fixtures, however, the hotel retains a distinctly European vibe with its avant-garde designer-made aesthetics.

If you're planning to visit museums, or see a concert of stage performance, be sure to get assistance from the hotel's concierge service. They can help acquire skip-the-line tickets for tours of Versailles Palace, dinner cruises on the Seine, or admission tickets to musicals and modern circuses.
