20 Avenue Favrel Et Lincy, 56000 Vannes, France

Overview

A property from the 1920s with aesthetics heavily inspired by the Asian continent, Villa Kerasy Hotel Spa inspires travelers to come together and enjoy the beauty of cultural exchange. The guestrooms are decorated with Dutch, British, and French touches, referencing the trade routes to India. Start every morning with a lovely breakfast, served in the dining hall and the courtyard, designed like the gardens of Kyoto. The town of Vannes, where Villa Kerasy is located, is a medieval walled town and thus a hotspot for historical tours and experiences. Take advantage of the hotel's bike rental service to explore the commune at your leisure, or head outside the town and visit the various beaches of the Morbihan Gulf.

History

Once a private residence built sometime in the 1920s, Villa Kerasy has since been transformed into a cute and charming boutique hotel that seeks to bridge the cultures of France and those of the Asian continent. The owners, Jean-Jacques Violo and Serge Plumer, are big fans of Asian culture and have various business endeavors in Vannes centered on representing the beautiful East.

Since opening Villa Kerasy in 2000, they have decorated the hotel using authentic artworks and curios they've found during their visits to the Orient. Their goal is to make guests feel like explorers and navigators, inspiring interest in the continent and countries they so love.

Design and Architecture

The design and decor of Villa Kerasy Hotel Spa take many elements from its environment and location as a hotel in a port town in rural France. These are blended with the intense admiration the owners have for Asia, represented by the curiosities and items from their collections. The guestrooms make use of contemporary fixtures and themes, complemented by period furniture reminiscent of the Age of Sail, and various treasures picked up by Jean-Jacques and Serge during their travels. Rooms have underlying motifs, inspired by the three European nations that ventured to India in pursuit of trade and glory - the British, the French, and the Dutch.

Other sections of the hotel are also dressed in Asian-centric touches. The spa has a Thai resort ambiance while offering Ayurvedic treatments and massages. The courtyard has a landscaped garden inspired by Japanese parks, particularly those in Kyoto, such as Kyotogyoen.
