Back in 1936, Le Café de la Gare first opened its doors to the public, providing a figurative oasis for country travelers amidst the forests of Brittany. Over the years, the cafe changed into La Maison Tirel Guérin, no longer a simple stopover but more of a forest hotel with resort-like amenities. Its latest development is quite recent, and its new owners Caroline and Yoann Jégo have been hard at work since they acquired the property in 2020.
Design and Architecture
While renovations and refurbishments have changed the features of Domaine du Limonay, its essence as a warm and welcoming hotel in the Bretagne countryside has not changed. It is that essence that owners Caroline and Yoann Jégo wish to preserve and improve upon, which started with the addition of a modern gourmet restaurant.
When it comes to aesthetics, the hotel has kept consistent with its blend of contemporary styles in public spaces and opted for period-style fixtures and furnishings for accommodations. The same could be said for the on-site restaurant Le Bistrot 1936, which embodies the atmosphere of the hotel's original 1936 incarnation.
