From Hôtel Radio's inception as a radio station in the 1930s, it has stood as a representation of beautiful Art Deco aesthetics popular in that era. The owners preserved many classical features of the radio station, such as the wrought-iron elevator. Metal crafts from that era also decorate the halls, along with mosaic tiles and mirrors. The hotel's hosts Caroline Mioche and Wilfrid Chaplain will likely have plenty more stories if you ask.
Design and Architecture
Although it was built in the 1930s, Hôtel Radio is arguably a product of the Années Folles or "Crazy Years", France's equivalent to America's Roaring Twenties. The building's symbolic Art Deco architecture is a glimpse back to that era. The eye-catching edifice stands apart from the medieval buildings and modern homes of Clermont-Ferrand.
Inside the hotel, guests will find more antique and vintage furniture hearkening to the 1920s and 30s. A wrought-iron elevator, seen often in Noir movies, and stylish metal mirrors are just some examples.

Cultural Experiences
Since Hôtel Radio is situated next to the city of Clermont-Ferrand, guests will easily find plenty of cultural experiences and encounters in the area. The city has a rich history dating all the way back to the Romans. The Basilica of Notre-Dame du Port was where Pope Urban II declared the First Crusade back in 1095. Clermont-Ferrand's history as a university city is also why it is included in UNESCO's Learning City Network.
Other Celebrations
While Hôtel Radio has a venue for large gatherings, guests with a small private celebration in mind can make arrangements with the management. Be sure to collaborate with the staff if you're planning something special for a birthday or anniversary.
