Château des Salles was built sometime in the 16th century in the Charente-Maritime department, known for its sandy coastline and historic towns. Much of the chateau's history has been lost to time, but guests can still feel the meticulous work done to restore the property to its former glory. Sylvie Couillaud, the property's hostess, oversees all hotel operations and ensures guests are given a warm and memorable stay.
Design and Architecture
Like most chateaux and castles built during the 16th century, Château des Salles features gabled roofs, stone walls, and decorative gables. Large windows let natural light in, creating a bright and warm atmosphere amidst the elegant and well-preserved interiors.
Inside, guests can feel as if they have traveled back in time with the chateau's furniture and decor. Common spaces like the dining area feature parquetry flooring, a decorative style of flooring where strips of wood are patterned geometrically. Light-colored walls, wooden accents, and intricately designed tables and chairs lend an air of sophistication to the chateau.
As for the five bedrooms, each are designed uniquely with the same wooden accents and light-colored walls. Paintings and hanging wall decor add a charming and personalized touch, ensuring each room is different from another.
